The Neighborhood
Saint Paul Farmers Market
An association of more than 160 members - all local growers and producers operates the Saint Paul Farmers Market. All market items are exclusively theirs. They offer items including fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, meat and poultry, honey, flowers, homemade soaps, and more, giving buyers direct access to the people who grow or make the products.
Lowertown features the association's flagship market; 17 satellite markets operate across the Twin Cities. Summer markets generally run from April through October; the Lowertown market also operates in the winter.

Lowertown
Located on the northern banks of the Mississippi River, Saint Paul's Lowertown has a vibrant history and future. In the 1800s, Lowertown was the hub of the port city's businesses, but by the mid-1900s, much of the area faced hard times. Businesses left, buildings were abandoned, and the busy pace of commerce moved elsewhere.
The good news is that much of the historic architecture remains in Lowertown, which today is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Beautiful new buildings have been added to the mix, along with thousands of new residents, a bustling farmers market, shops, restaurants, and art galleries and studios.
Lowertown is one of Saint Paul's fastest growing neighborhoods. Farmers Market Flats will help Lowertown continue this growth.
A magazine article featuring Lowertown
In its August 4 - 17, 2006 issue, Lavender Magazine
published a profile of the Lowertown area. Calling Lowertown
"a place of history with vision for the future, but
you live in the now," the article provides an compelling
picture of the life in the neighborhood outside the
front door of the Farmers' Market Flats.
